ART ABOUT NATURE

Drawing inspiration from philosophy, art history, and modern eco-political ideas, Markus Haala explores and reinterprets contemporary understandings of nature. Grounded in sculptural objects, visual references, and multimedia elements, his creations challenge established dualities, including the ongoing discourse of nature versus culture, perspectives based on experience and observation, and the influence of ideologies on aesthetic directions to assess how we shape the world using augmented technology.

By reformatting representations of natural and synthetic processes, often presenting them in opposition, Haala's work encourages thought-provoking confrontations with obscure themes and systems and embraces a materiality that seemingly distances itself from nature as we know it.
